Below are the main topics from our June 16, 2017 class. If you have questions about these or if you want an .mp3 recording of the class discussion let me know.
This Friday we’ll continue to discuss more about these topics and then move toward a discussion about sensuality and how to heal ourselves and improve our relations with others via living from our center.
This will introduce us to the chakras and how to work with them directly.
Hope you’re having a great day,
turiya

The Purpose of Yoga
Yoga is the neutralization of the vortices of feeling caused by desire. (likes and dislikes)
“Yoga is the neutralization of ego-directed feelings, because once these become stilled, the yogi realizes that he is, and that he has always been, one with the Infinite—that his awareness of this reality was limited only by his infatuation with limitation”
~ Kriyananda
The Paths of Yoga (Use these to accomplish the purpose stated above. Read chapter 2 of “The Art and Science of Raja Yoga” for more info. Esp. section on Gyana Yoga.)
- Bhakti Yoga The yoga of devotion. Important- It’s not what we love, but how we love.
- Karma Yoga The yoga of action. Important- It’s not what we do, but how we do it.
- Gyana Yoga The yoga of wisdom. Important- It’s not what we see, but how we see it.
Use what seems more natural to you, but also explore the others when the time feels right. A balanced approach includes all three.
Sincere meditation combined with a balanced application of these three approaches constitutes the path of Raja Yoga.
Non-Harming
Non-Lying (practicing the highest level of truthfulness, divine truthfulness)
Non-Stealing (non-coveting, non-desiring, —even what is rightfully yours)
